The MPQ568C is a Studio Grade low noise Microphone Preamplifier with 2 Bands Class A Discrete Germanium EQ.
The MPQ568C uses newly design VERUM’70 Discrete Input Preamplifier circuitry, providing ultra-low noise and no-compromise THD performance.
The use of the Discrete Transistors input stage ensures the Ultra Low Noise performance of EIN=-128dBu at the gain of +65dB.
The Germanium shelf EQ is very musical and easy to use. Each band has two frequency settings, which means that MPQ568C will cope with almost any recording task.
The input stage will easily handle high-level input signals. Thanks to this MPQ568C can be used to process line level signal with Colour Modules without the input PAD.
The logarithmic Gain control allows to accurately set the signal level feed to Colours or to record from the microphone with the selected Colour Module.
The MPQ568C is a perfect solution for recording and post-processing.
High-Quality Studio Grade Direct Input
The MPQ568C Active High Impedance Direct Input is ideal for acoustic instruments like Double-bass, usually equipped with piezo pickups. No more thin sound! The low end will be reproduced down to the lowest note!
Discrete Direct Input is suitable for a wide range of instruments such as acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, synths and any other signal source.
Colour Modules Routing
The unique feature of the MPQ568C is the Flexible EQ Routing Matrix around the Colour Modules.
The EQ can be routed pre or post the second Colour Module. This means more possible options to create different sonic results!
Example: You can use the Overdrive Colour with your electric guitar, change the tone with the EQ and achieve combo like effect with the Cabinet Simulator Colour Module. Only the first Colour will be effected with the EQ while second Colour will be inserted after the EQ.
Another option is to change the routing so the EQ will affect both Colour Modules connected in series.
Two Times More Creativity!
The MPQ568C has two slots for Colour Modules. A perfect solution for recording vocals and instruments.
Two slots can hold different Colour Modules which could be used to record different source without a need of replacing the colour for each take.
Both Colour Modules have separate Bypass switches providing hassle-free operation. MPQ568 can also be very useful for mastering and post-processing.
Ability to have 2 Colour Modules gives more flexibility and the discrete Germanium EQ will add necessary final touch to the track or mix.
Each Colour Module has associated HUE LED providing easy identification of active Colour Modules.
Unique EQ Bypass Feature
The EQ of the MPQ568C is made of 2 independent discrete transistors circuits for the Top and a Low shelf section.
Each band has a switch which allows selecting between two frequencies. The middle position of the switch will disable the EQ functionality for an individual band, but it will not bypass the EQ.
Such solution gives more flexibility! For example, only the Top band can be disengaged while Lows can be still boosted or cut.
Even if both bands are disengaged the signal always pass through the Discrete Opamps adding Germanium vibe to the signal.
DOPA68 | Discrete Germanium Opamps
The MPQ568C EQ section is based on DOPA68 Discrete Class A Opamps. Each Opamp consist of selected NOS Germanium transistors
The DOPA68 Discrete Opamp is a result of long design process followed by numerous listening tests and measurements to achieve pleasing sound and low distortions level.
The sound produces by DOPA68 Germanium Opamps is very smooth with the addition of high-frequency shine. Original Germanium transistors are very rare and can be found only in very expensive preamps.
I was lucky to secure the stock of old NOS Germanium transistors from Eastern Germany, but one day they all will be gone.
